USDA Protocols: Blue Range Ranch
Protocol 1: Organic: Animal Production Claims
All classes of cattle raised on this ranch (cows, heifers, steers, calves, and bulls) are organically certified by the state of Colorado, USDA National Organic Program. The cattle graze on organically certified pasture and eat only organically certified forage, hay, or haylage. All salt and minerals are organically certified.
Protocol 2: Grassfed:
Year round, the cattle are provided standing forage, stockpiled forage, baled hay, or haylage. Salt and mineral are the only supplements to the all-forage diet.
Protocol 3: Pastured:
All classes of cattle are always on pastures, fields, or irrigated meadows. The cattle are never confined. During the summer, the cattle are on the open range. During the fall, they strip-graze irrigated meadow. During the winter and spring they eat stockpiled forage and baled hay or haylage on pastures and fields.
Protocol 4: Natural:
All classes of cattle are fed only grass and are raised with no added hormones, and they are not fed animal by-products. Our beef is minimally processed with no artificial ingredients.
